Whats the hardcore scene in Yeovil actually like? Aaron, Hannah.. enlighten me! I've been to one Knuckledust show a few years ago, and it was just rammed with 12 year olds. All the friends I have added to my TTW myspace from Yeovil, all front this 'Yeovil hardcore' crew (Cant remember the name), and send me messages saying they are gonna come to Bristol shows but I have actually never seen one of them at a show in Bristol. Not a dig at Yeovil, just an observation... I think Bristol has got a lot better for locals coming to shows, in the last year I have met at least 20 or so local hardcore kids, who I had no clue exsisted a short while ago. Bristol is also twice the size of any nearby places i.e Yeovil, Swindon etc so it makes sense that people travel here. On another note however, there are plenty of fucking Bristol bands... NWS and SDFF for example that front all this hardcore 'talk' on stage about supporting the 'scene', yet NEVER come to shows, unless they are playing them. There isn't really a hardcore scene in Yeovil but that isn't to say there aren't h/c supporters or peole into the h/c lifestyle.

So what is the "h/c" lifestyle if it doesn't include supporting the scene and actually going to shows???

Wearing vests, basketball shorts, 'thugging out' in photos of you and your crew/collective/union/posse in car parks/wastelands/shop fronts/toilets/graff spots, being critical of anything that doesn't start with a held out chord and end with 'brutal beatdown'.
You know, that kind of thing.

shit yeah, i forgot about that. Then putting the pics up on a myspace page and adding all the local suicide girls as your "friends"
these kids got this scene on lockdown to be fair.

If you read my previous post numbskull you would see that due to transport links it isn't always easy to get from Yeo to Bristol or wherever. Some of these people do support shows etc etc.

bullshit. If you want to go to a show, then you go. Fuck, for the past 10 years I've been to shows all over the country sometimes travelling for 8/9 hours and I don't even drive. If you want something/want to do something.... get off your arse and fucking do it. The UK is small, we have everything handed to us on a plate (hardcore shows in the UK being more common than ever) unyet people moan about an hours drive.... bollocks.

Well I've already said on the Yeovil board that if anyone from that way wants a lift to this show then they just have to ask.
Haven't got a reply yet!!
Also Aimee - if you can get the flyer for this show done before the 10th November, I'll print off a shit load from the college computers and hand them out at the Yeovil Comeback Kid show!!

i went to a show in yeovil. Most of the people there were not from yeovil, i know this as i knew most of the people there in one way or another and they were not from yeovil. Im sure there were a couple of kids there from yeovil for the music but the majority seem to be young kids going for the social aspcect. None of the locals i have seen at shows elsewhere.
Travelling is a pathetic thing to bring into it, my best friend lives in australia and he thinks nothing of driving 2 or 3 hours up and down the gold/sunshine coast to go see some bands! Obvioulsy cash plays a part if your travelling with the price of fuel/public transport but if its going to be a killer show you can find the money.

Sounds like you were trying to have a pop at me, but I actually originally advised in this post that some people actually do travel to shows. Guess some people have got better things to do than travel for 3 weeks to watch a couple of piss poor HC bands. My best friend lives in Bristol and he wouldn't travel 2 minutes to watch True Valiance in the Croft, but travelled to San Diego to watch RFTC.
