Safe, so there are actually some bands worth seeing this year.
I'ma post up some of my top choices....
Saturday......
1.30 - Ampitheater Mea Culpa - Mea culpa quite literally pour their blood and sweat into producing vast yet chaotic noise-induced soundscapes. www.myspace.com/ meaculpanoise
3.10 - Mainstage - Hacksaw- Reliably shambolic punk rock twosome - the White Stripes meets Steptoe & Son. www.hacksaw.org.uk/
4.50 - Ampitheatre - Burning Skies- Focused on incorporating their diverse musical tastes into one heavy yet accessible sound, resulting in near-unstoppable slices of laborious brutality. www.burningskies.co.uk/
6.55 - Bigger Top- The Scrub - Seven Bristol scamps playing 2-Tone influenced ska, with added touches of funk, hip-hop and punk funk, The Scrub have become one of the city's favourite live bands.
8.10 - Ampitheatre - Gravenhurst - The ever-changing sound of Gravenhurst is currently inspiring musicians and fans across the country with beautiful guitars and soulful vocals. www.gravenhurstmusic.com
8.30 - F2 Stage - Ben-genius - Hip-hop at its best (FEATURING Buggzy....best emcee in Bristol!!!)
9.30 - Bigger Top - Mad Professor & The Ariwa Posse - Mad Professor is probably the UK's most accomplished reggae and dub producer. Accompanied by the Ariwa Posse, he closes Saturday on the Bigger Top stage with live music and fierce dub control.
Sunday....
12.45 - Mainstage - The Hit Ups - A highly addictive fusion of hornfuelled funk rock, hip-hop and ska influences. www.myspace.com/thehitups
3.10 - Mainstage - The Remnants - A sharp pop punk attack with hooky-as-hell tunes. Featuring ex-members of Grebo & Five Knuckle. www.myspace.com/ thebloodyremnants
4.25 - Bigger Top - Dub From Atlantis - Fronted by singers/songwriters Guy Calhoun and Wilks, the DFA band is a fusion of classic reggae, jazz and soul with elements of modern dance music - and a natural progression from the long-running club night.
4.50 - Ampitheatre - SHADOW LAW - Power-metalcore played with uncompromising speed, melody and virtuosity. Certainly not for the faint hearted. www.myspace.com/shadowlawmafia
7.20 - Mainstage - Bad:Science - A heady mix of spacious dub, funk, ska, bumping grooves and lyrically conscious hip-hop. www.badscience.biz
9.30 - Ampitheatre - Enter Shikari - Formed in St. Albans in 2003, post-hardcore Enter Shikari are the country's top unsigned band, selling out huge venues - and recently achieving a top 5 album - without the ‘benefit' of a major record company.
......maybe not them....go see this instead......
9.30 - Bigger Top - Smerins Anti Social Club - Bristol favourites who combine ska, funk, reggae and drum & bass with showmanship, energy and taste. They're celebrating the release of their debut album this weekend too - so give them an extra cheer!
We're playing at the same time as Pinch and MC Jakes which is fucking annoying, there one of my favorite dubstep acts!!!
Anyhow....anyone reaching??
